Captain: In the Indian Premier League, there are many captains who have won an IPL trophy. But they have done that for a single franchise team. MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are the most successful captains because they have won five trophies each for their respective teams of MI and CSK.

Gautam Gambhir is the next best captain in this cash rich league tournament because he has won the IPL twice for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and 2014. Gauti was also the head coach of the KKR side when they lifted their crown last year in the TATA IPL 2024 edition.

But none of the three skippers who are mentioned above have won the IPL trophies for two different franchise teams in this tournament. However, in this 18th edition of this league, there are two such captains who can achieve this rare feat of winning the glory for two different franchise teams of the IPL.

1. Hardik Pandya –

The pace Bowling all-rounder of the Indian Cricket Team and the current skipper of Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya, can be the first ever IPL captain to win the tournament for two franchise teams as the captain. MI is on top of the table with six back-to-back wins.

If they continue their winning momentum, then they can lift their sixth title in this TATA IPL 2025 edition, and Hardik can also be the first captain to win the trophy for two franchise teams. In 2022, Pandya was the captain when Gujarat Titans won their first-ever title in the debut season.

2. Shreyas Iyer –

India’s middle-order batsman, Shreyas Iyer, is the new captain of the Punjab Kings franchise. He was bought for 26.75 crores in this season and he is the second most expensive player in this cash-rich league tournament’s history after Rishabh Pant was auctioned for the highest bid of 27 crores.

Shreyas Iyer was the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders team last year when they won their third IPL trophy in the TATA IPL 2024 season. Punjab has done a decent job in the tournament until now under Shreyas and Pointing, who is their coach. The PBKS side is in fourth position on the points table.

Now, Punjab can qualify for the top four if they have a couple of wins under their belt. But Iyer will want his team to go in the finals, which would be just the second time that Punjab will play an IPL final. Shreyas will also look to win his second title as the skipper and the first as a captain of two different franchise teams of this tournament.
