Ravichandran Ashwin: The Ace Spin Bowler Of India Retires From International Arena

Another news that shocked the cricketing world is that India’s ace spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin will retire from International Cricket and go home tomorrow. The 38-year-old cricketer was ranked fifth in the ICC bowling rankings and third as an all-rounder.

Achievements Of Ravichandran Ashwin In The White Ball Formats –

Ravichandran Ashwin had a stellar career in the red ball format. He has picked up 537 scalps in the Test matches for India and he has also slammed six centuries to his name. Ash is the only Indian player to score a hundred and also pick up five wickets in the same Test match. That too in four different matches. He has won the most Player of the Series award in Tests.

His success in the red ball form of the game has been huge and that’s why many people have forgotten that Ravichandran Ashwin was also a valuable player in the white ball formats as well. He might have not scored many runs in the ODIs and T20I format. But his contribution was immense in two forms of the game for India.

  1. Ravichandran Ashwin was the first bowler from India to pick 50 scalps in the shortest format.
  2. Ashwin has 156 scalps to his name from 116 One Day International matches for India. He is the 13th-highest wicket-taker.
  3. In the shortest form of the game, Ravichandran is the sixth-highest wicket-taker for the Men in Blue. From 65 T20Is, Ash has got 72 scalps to his name.
  4. Ash was part of the ODI World Cup-winning team in 2011.
  5. In 2013, Ashwin also helped India to win the ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales.
  6. He took India to the T20 World Finals in 2014.
  7. In the 2015 ODI World Cup, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 13 wickets in eight games and helped India to reach the semi-final round of that ICC event in Australia.
  8. Ash will end his ODI career with 707 runs and in T20Is, he has scored 184 runs to his name.

Ravichandran Ashwin will continue playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the domestic matches. In the IPL, Ravichandran Ashwin has scored 800 runs with one half century and he has picked up 180 wickets to his name in 211 matches and 208 innings. Ash was the part of 2010 and 2010 IPL winning team of the Chennai Super Kings.
