Must read

Bangkok Bar Fire: A horrific fire tore through a crowded pub in northern Bangkok in the early hours of Monday (July 13, 2026), killing at least 27 people and injuring more than 60 others.

According to emergency officials, 63 people were injured in the incident, with at least 22 reported to be in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise further.

The devastating blaze triggered panic as hundreds of patrons attempted to flee through thick smoke that rapidly engulfed the venue.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and whether the establishment complied with mandatory fire safety regulations.

Midnight Tragedy at Na Ladprao Pub

Bangkok Bar Fire: The fire broke out shortly after midnight at Na Ladprao Pub, a popular nightlife venue in northern Bangkok that was crowded with customers enjoying live music.

Firefighters and emergency rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving distress calls. Crews battled the flames for nearly 30 minutes before bringing the fire under control.

However, by then, the interior of the pub had been extensively damaged, leaving behind a charred structure.

Rescue personnel searched the building for survivors while medical teams transported dozens of injured victims to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.

Thick Smoke Believed to Have Caused Most Fatalities

Bangkok Bar Fire: Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, who visited the scene after the incident, said the fire spread rapidly and reached the ceiling within minutes.

According to the governor, thick and toxic smoke is believed to have been the primary cause of many of the deaths.

Emergency responders recovered several victims near the rear section of the pub, including inside restrooms and close to a designated emergency exit.

Authorities are investigating whether obstacles or other factors may have prevented some people from escaping safely.

Eyewitness Describes Smoke Near Circuit Breaker Before Blast

Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul also visited the site and met survivors as officials began assessing the cause of the tragedy.

One musician who had been performing on stage told authorities that he noticed smoke coming from a circuit breaker near the stage moments before the electricity suddenly failed.

According to the eyewitness, the venue was plunged into darkness, followed by a loud explosion and rapidly spreading smoke that filled the hall within seconds.

Officials have stressed that these eyewitness accounts form part of the ongoing investigation, and the exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed.

Investigators are also examining whether combustible decorative materials inside the venue contributed to the rapid spread of the flames.

Viral Videos Show Terrifying Moments

Videos recorded by first responders and bystanders have gone viral across social media, showing flames erupting from the entrance of the pub as thick black smoke billowed into the night sky.

Other footage captured panicked customers running from the building while coughing and calling for help.

Images released after the fire reveal a severely damaged interior, with furniture, musical equipment and much of the structure destroyed.

Singer Sukanya Wongwongwai, who had been performing at another nearby venue, rushed to the pub after learning about the fire because members of her own band were performing there.

She later confirmed that one of her bandmates had died in the incident, three others were hospitalized, and another person remained unaccounted for.

Previous Nightclub Fires Raise Safety Concerns

The tragedy has once again brought attention to fire safety standards at entertainment venues in Thailand.

In 2022, a fire at the Mountain B music pub in Chonburi province killed 26 people and injured dozens more. Earlier, the 2009 Santika Nightclub fire in Bangkok claimed 66 lives after fireworks ignited combustible materials during New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Both disasters prompted calls for stricter enforcement of building safety regulations, emergency exits and occupancy limits.

Investigation Underway

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has assured the public that authorities will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Forensic experts are examining the building’s electrical system to determine the exact origin of the fire.

Officials are also investigating whether the pub complied with mandatory fire safety requirements, including emergency exits, occupancy regulations and the use of fire-resistant construction materials.

Authorities have stated that legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible for negligence or violations of safety regulations.

As investigators continue their work, officials have urged entertainment venues across Thailand to review their fire safety measures to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
