Bangladesh vs South Africa: Before Winning Against Bangladesh Yesterday, The Proteas Won In Sri Lanka In 2014 Test Series

The Proteas toured the island nation of Sri Lanka in 2014 for a series of two red ball games and three-match series in the One Day International format. South Africa had a perfect tour as they won the fifty overs series and the red ball format series. The Proteas won the first and the last matches of the ODI series which were held in Colombo and Hambantota.

The visitors of that tour to Sri Lanka in 2014, South Africa also clinched the two-match series of the red ball format when they won the 1st Test at Galle and the second match ended in a draw. South Africa won the 1st red ball match of that two-match series by 153 runs at Galle.

That was the last win for the Proteas in the Asian Subcontinent region and yesterday, South Africa ended their 10-year drought after their win in Dhaka against Bangladesh by seven wickets. The legendary batter from South Africa, Hashim Amla was the highest run scorer from the team of the Proteas in that two-match series which South Africa won against Sri Lanka in the island nation during their 2014 tour. Amla was the second-highest run-getter in the overall list. He had scored 197 runs from two matches and two innings with the second-best average of 65.67, one century, 19 boundaries and the highest individual score of 139 runs in the first innings of the second Test match at Colombo.

2. Dale Steyn –

The lethal pace bowler of South Africa was in full-on aggression mode and he had the calibre to make an impact on any type of surface around the world. Dale Steyn was the man of the series in the two matches which the Proteas played in Sri Lanka in 2014. He had picked up 13 scalps from just two matches. Steyn had the second-best average of 17.46, an economy rate of 3.03, second best strike rate of 34.62 with one five-wicket haul.
