Most of the passengers were fast asleep in their berths when the sudden impact occurred.

The collision was so severe that the impact threw several passengers from their upper berths onto the ground. Within minutes of the crash, a devastating fire erupted, trapping many inside the vehicle.

Visuals from the scene showed both vehicles completely engulfed in huge flames as passengers screamed for help.

According to official reports, five passengers died from severe burn injuries as they could not escape the fast-spreading flames in time.

Two other passengers succumbed to fatal head injuries sustained during the impact, bringing the total death toll to seven.

Fatalities: 7 deaths have been officially confirmed by the authorities.

Victims: According to reports, the injured passengers mostly included women and children who were returning from Rishikesh.

Medical officials at the district hospital are providing necessary treatment to the injured, and the local administration is actively working to identify all the victims involved in the crash.

Investigating the Cause: Driver Fatigue and Speeding

While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially determined, the local administration and police have launched an investigation.

Preliminary suspicions by the police suggest that the bus driver may have dozed off behind the wheel, losing control of the vehicle.

Apart from driver fatigue, the high speed of the bus is also being heavily considered by investigators as a major contributing factor to the collision.

Local Allegations: Delayed Rescue and Flammable Cargo

The tragic incident has sparked concerns among local residents, who have raised serious allegations regarding the emergency response time and the contents inside the bus.

1.Alleged Delay in Emergency Response

Locals present at the site alleged that the rescue teams and fire brigade personnel arrived late at the scene.

They claimed that the passengers trapped inside the burning bus were not rescued until nearly an hour after the fire broke out.

According to the residents, this delay hampered rescue efforts and contributed to the high casualties.

2.Presence of Highly Flammable Material

Additionally, local residents claimed that the bus’s storage compartment was heavily loaded with commercial cigarette packets.

They believe that this unauthorized cargo acted as fuel, causing the flames to spread through the entire vehicle with unusual speed and intensity.

Media reports indicate that the local administration is looking into all angles, including these statements from eyewitnesses, to determine the exact sequence of events.
