IND Vs ENG: The Men in Blue have won the first T20 International match against England at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India gave a good performance with the willow and the white cherry to seal the series opening encounter by seven wickets and also lead the five-match series of the shortest format by a margin of 1-0.
India bundled out the batting power house of England for just 132 runs in their quota of 20 overs due to some very good bowling after they won the toss and elected to field first. Today we shall mention the top performers of the series opener in this segment –

1. Jos Buttler –
IND Vs ENG: Jos Buttler, the skipper of England, led his team from the front in the 1st T20I match yesterday. The England skipper scored the most runs in their innings. His knock of 68 runs was why the visitors, England could score 132 runs in their allotted 20 overs. At the same time, Jos Buttler also became the seventh batter to reach the milestone of scoring 12,000 runs in T20 Cricket. Apart from Skipper Buttler, Harry Brook and Jofra Archer were the only ones who could score in double digits. But none of the England batters could even cross 20 runs in this match.
2. Varun Chakravarthy –
IND Vs ENG: India was ahead in the match mainly because of their bowlers who did a wonerdul job in the series opening match at Kolkata. Varun Chakravarthy continued his good form with the ball against a powerful batting line up of England as well. He picked up three wickets to his name and two of those scalps came in the same over. Varun was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his excellent bowling display.
3. Abhishek Sharma –
The Indian opener, Abhishek Sharma was the top performer with the bat for India in the game played yesterday at the Eden Gardens. Samson and Sharma gave India a decent start of 41 runs in a run chase of 133. But the home side, India lost Sanju and Surya in the same over.
IND Vs ENG: Then it was the Abhishek Sharma show which put the Men in Blue ahead of the visitors England in the 1st T20I. Sharmaji scored 79 runs to seal the first match for his country. Tilak Varma was the one who played a role of second fiddle in this run chase. Varma was unbeaten on 19 runs and Hardik was not out on 3 runs as India won this match by seven wickets.
