Taking a brief but meaningful detour from intensive geopolitical deliberations in New Delhi, the top-tier American diplomats experienced firsthand the architectural excellence and rich history that define the heart of India’s royal heritage
Expressing his admiration for the city, Ambassador Gor shared a stunning tribute to Jaipur on social media, describing the Rajasthan capital as the “Pink City, where every sunset paints the palaces in hues of rose and gold.”

A Royal Welcome at the Historic Amer Fort

Perched majestically on a hill just outside the main city, the UNESCO World Heritage site offered a breathtaking backdrop for Secretary Rubio, his wife Jeanette Rubio, and Ambassador Gor.

The cultural excursion to Jaipur followed another major diplomatic pitstop earlier on the same day. Monday morning saw Ambassador Gor accompany Secretary Rubio and his wife to the Taj Mahal in Agra.
The US Secretary of State was deeply moved by the Mughal-era monument, signing the visitors’ book and hailing the grand mausoleum as “one of the true treasures of the world.”
These cultural visits provided a serene interlude to an otherwise packed diplomatic itinerary. Secretary Rubio’s four-day official trip to India began with a visit to the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, followed by critical high-level meetings in New Delhi.
The Secretary held bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to strengthen US-India cooperation across defense, trade, and energy.
Following the brief detour to Agra and Jaipur, Secretary Rubio returned to New Delhi to participate in the highly anticipated Quad Foreign Ministers’ Summit hosted by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
