The State Women’s Commission has issued a set of nine key guidelines aimed at creating a safer and more comfortable environment for women.
One of the most notable changes is the requirement for female instructors in dance classes where girls are being trained.
The Commission believes that having women teachers will help students feel more secure and at ease while learning.
Presence of Female Staff Across Key Spaces
The new guidelines extend beyond dance studios. Gyms, yoga centers, and performing arts institutions will now be required to have female trainers on staff.
In addition, all trainers must undergo proper background verification to ensure accountability and reduce the risk of misconduct.
Boutiques and clothing stores, especially those where measurements are taken or fittings are done must also employ female staff.
This step is intended to protect women’s privacy and dignity in such personal settings.
Safety Measures for School Transportation
The rules also bring changes for schools. Every school bus must now include a female staff member, either a teacher or a security guard, to enhance the safety of children, particularly girls, during transit.
Stricter Entry and Monitoring Systems
To improve security, gyms and yoga centers will require visitors to submit valid identification, such as an Aadhaar card.
This will help maintain records of individuals entering the premises and deter suspicious behavior.
Additionally, the installation of CCTV cameras along with DVR systems will be mandatory in coaching centers, gyms, yoga classes, and boutiques.
This move is expected to strengthen surveillance and ensure quick action in case of any incident.
Why These Changes Matter
The Women’s Commission has forwarded these recommendations to the Chief Secretary for implementation.
According to the Commission, these measures are essential to building a safer, more respectful environment where women can train, work, and move freely without fear.
