Vilas Godbole, a former first-class cricketer from Mumbai said the above-mentioned lines for Ustad Zakir Hussain after Godbole heard the sad news of Ustad Zakir Hussain’s demise. The 82-year-old former Mumbai cricketer, Godbole also said that Ustad Zakir Hussain wanted to take cricket seriously.

But Ustad Zakir Hussain’s father, who was also a legendary tabla player and great Guru, Ustad Alla Rakha, known also as Abbaji did not allow him to do so. Vilas Godbole was an administrator, a coach and a passionate music listener as well. Mr Godbole had written a book on cricket and during the book release function in 2010, Ustad Zakir Hussain mesmerized the audience with his Tabla Solo at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi (Mumbai).

Ustad Zakir Hussain was very delighted to see Vilas Godbole had written another book on cricket which was on coaching. Godbole said that Ustad Zakir Hussain’s demise is a big loss. He was a person who radiated goodness. Ustad Zakir Hussain was in touch with cricket even when he was touring around.

Ustad Zakir Hussain Also Injured His Fingers While Wicketkeeping In A Gully Cricket Match

Every Indian-born boy wanted to become a cricketer in his childhood and Ustad Zakir Hussain was also the one. That’s why India is still and always be known as a cricket-loving country. When Ustad Zakir Hussain was in his childhood, he also wanted to be a cricket player.

Ustad Zakir Hussain missed his tabla riyaz and went out to play cricket with his friends in Mahim where he used to stay during his childhood. During one of those days, Ustad Zakir Hussian also injured his fingers when he was wicketkeeping for his team in a match of Gully Cricket.

Ustad Zakir Hussain’s father Ustad Allarakha was worried, and angry when he saw his son’s fingers were injured. Ustad Alla Rakha was worried that his son, who is very much talented in Tabla could now even touch that instrument or not. That concern which Ustad Alla Rakha turned Ustad Zakir Hussain’s life and he dedicate his all only for Tabla.

Despite making his career as a full-time tabla player, Ustad Zakir Hussain was still passionate about cricket. He shared good memories with the living cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his former friend, Mumbai Cricketer Vilas Godbole. Ustad Zakir Hussain will be remembered because he made his hands speak through the Tabla.
