The havoc of monkeypox and Marburg virus was not yet completely over when the threat of another disease started looming over the heads of the people. The name of this disease is Disease X, which is spreading rapidly in Africa and more than 140 patients affected by it have died. The World Health Organization (WHO) had issued an alert about this disease 7 months ago. The most dangerous thing is that no one has much information about this disease, due to which people are not aware about it.
How dangerous is Disease X
This disease is being called Disease X because due to lack of special information about it, it has not been given any name. It is believed that it may be caused by some kind of virus. Earlier this disease came into discussion in the year 2018 when flu-like symptoms were seen in people in some areas but they were also dying after a few days.
Who is more at risk
Most of the cases of Disease X have been found in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Central Africa. Most of its victims are children. The African Center for Disease Control and Prevention says that so far 386 cases of this disease have been reported. Out of which in about 200 cases the patients are children below 5 years of age. But the reason for the spread of this disease is not clear yet. It is believed that it is transmitted from one person to another through breathing. WHO has sent some medicines to Africa to stop it, but it is expected that this disease can cause havoc.
