Attack on Guards After Asking Religion: A shocking incident has come to light from the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road, near Mumbai, where a 31-year-old man, Zaib Zubair Ansari, attacked two security guards with a knife.

According to reports, the आरोपी asked the guards about their religion and demanded that they recite the kalma. When they failed to do so, he suddenly assaulted them.

In the attack, Rajkumar Mishra sustained serious injuries, while Subroto Sen managed to escape and save his life.

Both were immediately admitted to hospital, and their condition is now reported to be stable.

How the Incident Unfolded

The incident took place around 4:00 AM on April 26, 2026, at an under-construction building in Naya Nagar, where both guards were on duty.

The accused initially engaged in a normal conversation but soon began asking about their names and religion. He then asked them to recite the kalma. When the guards refused, he became aggressive and attacked them with a knife.

Rajkumar Mishra was seriously injured in the assault, while Subroto Sen managed to hide inside a cabin and avoid harm.

Both injured guards were rushed to Wockhardt Hospital, where they are currently stable.

Police Action Within 90 Minutes

After the attack, the accused fled the scene. However, the police acted swiftly and scanned CCTV footage from the area.

Based on the footage, the accused was identified and arrested from his rented residence within just 90 minutes.

A case has been registered against him under multiple charges, including attempt to murder.

Who is Zaib Zubair Ansari?

During the investigation, it was revealed that Ansari is an educated individual who studied in the United States until 2019.

After returning to India, he lived alone in Mira Road and worked as a chemistry and mathematics tutor at a coaching center.

In recent months, he had reportedly become socially isolated. His landlord had also asked him to vacate the flat by May 5.

Probe Into Suspected Extremist Content

Police investigations have found suspicious material on the accused’s mobile phone and laptop.

Sources suggest that he had been watching propaganda videos linked to Islamic State (ISIS) online. Handwritten notes recovered from his residence allegedly indicate a desire to join an extremist organization.

However, no official confirmation has yet been made regarding direct links to any terrorist group.

ATS Steps In; Lone-Wolf Angle Being Explored

Given the seriousness of the matter, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has taken over the investigation.

Authorities are also examining the possibility of a “lone wolf” attack. Forensic analysis of the accused’s digital devices is underway to determine whether he was in contact with any international networks or handlers.

Some sources indicate that content related to the Pahalgam attack may have been found on his devices, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Advisory From Security Agencies

Police have urged citizens not to spread rumors regarding the incident and to rely only on official information.

Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading misinformation or unverified claims.

This incident once again raises concerns about the impact of online radical content on individuals and how it can influence behavior.

Investigations are ongoing from all angles to ensure that no larger network is involved behind the attack.
