The Delhi court dismissed CM Kejriwal’s appeal, in which he asked for the jail administration to provide insulin. In addition, he had asked for permission to speak with the doctor for fifteen minutes each day via video conference on his blood sugar levels rising and falling.
The Medical Board will decide regarding Insulin
It was ordered by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja that Arvind Kejriwal receive the appropriate medical care. The jail authorities will designate a medical board composed of an endocrinologist and a diabetologist, appointed by the AIIMS director, in the event that Kejriwal needs any particular consultation.
He said the medical board should decide whether Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal should be given insulin or not. The court said the medical committee will also decide on the prescribed diet and exercise plan to be followed regularly. There will be no changes in the diet prescribed by the medical committee.
CM Kejriwal submitted a petition demanding insulin administration and medical consultation through the VC for 15 minutes every day. The hearing took place on April 19 (Friday) and the special judge set the sentencing for Monday. Kejriwal’s lawyer said Kejriwal has been suffering from diabetes for 22 years and needs insulin daily. ED said that Kejriwal had stopped taking insulin long ago.
Kejriwal wrote a letter to Superintendent
In the past, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had made serious allegations against the Tihar Jail administration. CM Kejriwal has written a letter to the Superintendent of Tihar Jail regarding this matter. He wrote that he had read a statement from the Jail administration in a newspaper and felt sad after it. Both the statements of Tihar are false. I ask for insulin every day. I showed the reading of the glucometer and said that three times a day the sugar is very high. Sugar is between 250 and 320.
