Assam Crime News: In a deeply disturbing and tragic incident, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly abducted, sexually assaulted, and brutally murdered at Madanmohan in the Sribhumi district of Assam.

According to official police sources and media reports, the horrific incident took place on Wednesday, triggering massive public outrage and tension across the region.

Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the crime, and an intense investigation is currently underway.

Details of the Tragic Incident

Assam Crime News: According to media reports citing local police, the young victim had stepped out of her house to play when the accused, who was reportedly known to her, lured her and took her into a nearby forest area.

When the child failed to return home after several hours, her family launched a frantic search operation.

Later that day, her lifeless body was recovered from the same forest.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Tribhuvan Bhuyan briefed reporters, stating that preliminary findings suggest the assailant initially attempted to strangulate the girl by hand and subsequently used her frock to choke her, leading to her death on the spot.

Accused Deceived Family, Joined the Search Mission

Assam Crime News: According to police accounts, the suspect exhibited highly deceptive behavior following the crime. In an attempt to evade suspicion, he pretended to have no knowledge of the incident and joined the community and the family in searching for the missing girl.

“The accused was even seen riding pillion on the victim’s father’s motorcycle while the family was desperately looking for her,” ASP Bhuyan told the media.

Reports further state that after being detained, the accused allegedly confessed to the killing, claiming he committed the act to avenge previous alleged mistreatment by the victim’s father. However, law enforcement agencies are thoroughly verifying these claims.

Police Action: Case Registered Under BNS and POCSO Act

As per local reports, the suspect initially attempted to flee the area but was quickly cornered and apprehended by law enforcement officials.

While the individual has reportedly admitted to the murder during interrogation, he has denied the allegations of sexual assault.

Police officials have stated that the victim’s family strongly suspects rape prior to the murder.

Authorities have sent the body for a comprehensive post-mortem examination, clarifying that the exact medical facts will be established once the forensic report is received.

According to security sources, a case has been registered under the stringent sections of the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, including:

Section 103(1): Punishment for Murder

Section 141: Kidnapping/Abduction

Section 65(2): Punishment for Rape on a Girl Under Twelve Years of Age

Age Verification Process: A secondary police officer reported that while the suspect claims to be a juvenile (under the age of 18), certain local accounts suggest he is around 22 years old.

The police are currently examining his official documents and conducting medical tests to ascertain his exact age before producing him before the appropriate court of law.

Massive Public Protests and Blockades Demanding Justice

The news of the gruesome crime sparked immediate fury among local residents, prompting hundreds of protesters to take to the streets and block major roadways.

According to local media reports, the agitators alleged negligence on the part of the local administration, pointing out that the Madanmohan Patrol Post is located barely 300 meters from the crime scene, yet assistance did not arrive immediately.

Senior police officials rushed to the protest sites to de-escalate the situation. The road blockades were cleared only after top officers intervened, assuring the public of an expedited investigation and exemplary punishment for the perpetrator.

The local community has raised serious concerns regarding child safety and demanded that the case be fast-tracked to ensure swift justice.
