AUS Vs IND: Virat Kohli is the King of International Cricket and the Indian Premier League tournament. Every opposition team fears Virat Kohli the most because he can take the game away single-handedly. Australia is like the second home for The King. He has dominated the Aussie nation like a boss.
More than England, South Africa, and New Zealand, King Kohli likes to bat in Australia the most because the pitches and conditions suit his aggressive style of batting. Virat has scored the most centuries on Australian soil. He has seven Test Tons Down Under now, and he even went past the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, who held a record of scoring six centuries in the Aussie nation previously.
Today, in this segment, we shall bring the top three knocks in the red ball form of the game by the King, Virat Kohli in Australia –
1. 123 Runs From 157 Deliveries At Perth In 2018 –
This match was the second match played between AUS and IND at Optus Stadium in Perth. India was batting second in this match and like always the Aussies were on top of their game despite they lost the opening encounter of this series. India’s batting was in disarray in this match.
But it was the captain of that series, Virat Kohli who held the innings together for the Men in Blue. His knock of 123 runs from 157 deliveries helped India to get closer to the total posted by the home side, Australia. However, this magical innings from the King went in vain as India lost that match by 146 runs and the series was levelled to one all.
2. 116 Runs At Adelaide Oval In 2012 –
India was whitewashed in the series of 2011 and 2012 in Australia. After India won the 2011 ODI World Cup, this was a historic low for Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men. The Aussies posted a mammoth score of 604 runs for the loss of seven wickets. In reply, the Men in Blue could muster just 272 runs in their 1st innings and India reached that score mainly because of King Kohli’s 116-run knock.
3. 115 and 141 In 2014 At The Adelaide Oval –
A batter rarely scores two Test tons in one innings. The King, Virat Kohli has also achieved this feat in this red ball career and that too in Australia. In the 1st innings, Kohli amassed 115 runs to his name, which allowed India to come closer to the Australian 1st innings score and while chasing a sniff score as a target, the King scored 141 runs in the second innings. But both these knocks ended up in a losing cause for Kohli at his favourite venue in Australia, the Adelaide Oval.
