According to official releases from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), this marks the 33rd international award bestowed upon PM Modi by a foreign nation.

The visit represents the first time an Indian Prime Minister has travelled to Slovakia since the country achieved independence in 1993.

I dedicate this award to the enduring friendship between India and Slovakia,” PM Modi shared in a public statement.

According to media logs, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico congratulated PM Modi during their high-level interactions, acknowledging his political longevity and leadership stability within a highly diverse democratic framework.

Prior to the award ceremony, PM Modi paid floral tributes to fallen soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Bratislava, accompanied by PM Fico, honoring those who contributed to the liberation efforts during the Second World War.

Labour Migration & Mobility: A major MoU was signed to facilitate the safe, orderly, and legal movement of skilled Indian professionals to address Slovakia’s growing workforce demands.

Digital Technology & Innovation: The nations agreed to boost joint development in emerging technology landscapes, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and quantum communications.

Defense & Strategic Alignment: Law enforcement and defense delegates finalized a critical Letter of Intent (LoI) to expand defense manufacturing partnerships and joint technology transfers.

Educational & Cultural Synergy: Authorities announced the establishment of an “India Chair” dedicated to Artificial Intelligence studies at a prominent Slovakian university. Additionally, leaders celebrated cultural ties, highlighting the translation of ancient Indian Upanishads into the Slovak language.

According to current financial data, economic engagement between New Delhi and Bratislava has scaled rapidly over the last fiscal year.

The joint statement highlighted that both leaders have committed to working toward the early implementation of the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to further unlock investment corridors.

The visit to Slovakia formed the second leg of the Prime Minister’s multi-nation European tour. Prior to arriving in Bratislava, PM Modi held a high-level bilateral session with French President Emmanuel Macron in the city of Nice.

According to diplomatic briefs, the meeting in France attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar led to the finalization of 13 major agreements focused on space exploration, economic security dialogue, and doubling mutual trade over the next five years.

Following the conclusion of his engagements in Slovakia, the Prime Minister is scheduled to proceed to France to participate in the upcoming G-7 Summit sessions.
