Mumbai Crime News: A deeply shocking and sensitive incident has emerged from Maharashtra’s capital, Mumbai, triggering a wave of public anger and reigniting urgent debates regarding the safety of children in commercial spaces.

An eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted inside a restroom on a company’s premises in South Mumbai’s bustling Pydhonie area.

The accused, a private security guard stationed at the venue, was apprehended immediately after the crime came to light.

The horrific incident sparked intense outrage among local residents, who took to the streets in large numbers to stage protest demonstrations outside the police station, demanding the strictest possible punishment for the perpetrator.

Assault Occurs on Courier Company Premises; Suspect Arrested

Mumbai Crime News: According to media reports and official police statements, the incident took place on Sunday inside an office building in the Pydhonie jurisdiction.

Investigators identified the accused security guard as Parvez, a native of Jharkhand.

Police sources revealed that Parvez had been employed for the past six months by a courier firm named Ma Corporate Services, operating at the location where the assault occurred.

According to police accounts, the accused was allegedly heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time of the offense.

The assault took place inside a restroom situated within the company premises. According to the source, a local resident spotted the suspect with the young girl under suspicious circumstances and raised an alarm.

Alert citizens, along with the victim’s mother, quickly overpowered Parvez on the spot and took him directly to the police station, where he was formally handed over to law enforcement and placed under arrest.

Protester Backlash and Heavy Police Deployment

Mumbai Crime News: As news of the assault spread through the locality, public anger escalated rapidly. Hundreds of residents gathered outside the Pydhonie Police Station, chanting slogans against the accused and demanding swift judicial action.

According to eyewitness accounts and police reports, demonstrators briefly blocked the main thoroughfare outside the station, severely disrupting vehicular movement in the South Mumbai area.

In response to the rising tension, a substantial police contingent was deployed to the area to maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents.

Senior police officials engaged with the crowd, reassuring them that a thorough investigation would be conducted, after which the blockage was cleared and traffic flow was restored.

Authorities stated that the situation is currently under control, though a heavy police presence remains on-site as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the minor girl was admitted to a hospital, where she is undergoing medical treatment.

Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar Surrounded by Agitated Crowd

The gravity of the situation drew immediate political attention. Upon learning of the incident, the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Rahul Narwekar, visited the Pydhonie Police Station to review the case updates.

However, he was quickly surrounded by a segment of the agitated demonstrators. The protesters raised slogans in his presence, demanding uncompromising accountability and calling for a fast-track trial.

Speaker Narwekar assured the public that the government would ensure the strictest legal provisions are applied to the accused.

Demands for the Implementation of the ‘Shakti Act’

The incident has also triggered strong reactions from the opposition benches in the state.

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar termed the assault an “outrageous and extremely serious” occurrence in a post shared on the social media platform X.

Pawar drew parallels to a recent case in Pune district’s Nasrapur, where a 65-year-old man was sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a toddler.

The lawmaker expressed concern that the “absence of swift justice” in such heinous crimes reduces the law’s ability to act as a deterrent.

He urged the state government to ensure the speedy disposal of such sensitive trials and demanded the immediate enforcement of the ‘Shakti Act’ a proposed state legislation containing stringent penalties, including capital punishment, for atrocities against women and children.

The MLA noted that he had previously raised this issue during the legislative session and extended his prayers for the young girl’s quick recovery.

Local police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
