Russia-Ukraine War: Former US President Donald Trump has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready for peace, and Russian President Vladimir Putin should “compromise” with Ukraine.
Trump also mentioned that he plans to meet the Russian President as soon as possible. Earlier, he warned his Russian counterpart to end the “stupid war” in Ukraine or face higher tariffs and sanctions.
Trump, who was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, shared these comments on his social media platform Truth Social on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, the President said, “I think he (Putin) should make a deal.” When asked if he thought sanctions on Russia would force Putin to negotiate, Trump replied, “I don’t know.” He further said, “Russia should make a deal. Maybe they want to make a deal. From what I heard, Putin wants to meet with me. And we will meet very soon. I will meet right away. Soldiers are dying on the battlefield.”
